Reducing our reliance on single use and plastic packaging is just one step to an ultimate solution. Alternative packaging is an absolute must and its time for companies to take action on their companies sustainability cycle. A circular economy should be the norm within todays society. Companies should be responsible for the full cycle of their products creation delivery and recycling. The Noosa EEHub is proud to promote businesses in our Shire who are already applying these philosophies to their business practices.

Organic waste should be seen as an asset and not be put in our landfill. Organic matter in our landfills contributes to 63% of Councils emissions and as such we should be utilising this rich resource as much as possible. Keeping a home compost or worm farm is an excellent way to reduce the organic matter that enters our Council bins. There are many community based initiates to help people share their waste with others who have composting facilities such as #compostconnect and #sharewaste. We can also develop rich community based composting facilities at our community garden spaces. This is ideal as it is in these environments that the by-products from this process can be best utilised, rich organic compost ready to boost the nutritional value of our soils.
