Biocultural Resilience Building – Healing Country

The Noosa Environmental Education Hub invite community to attend a Healing Country information session at Peregian beach Community House. Join Aunty Beverly Hand Kabi Kabi Traditional Custodian (in person) and Victor Steffensen creator of the Firesticks Alliance (va ZOOM) discussing Australia’s biodiversity and traditional land management practices.
Aunty Beverly Hand is a well respected Kabi Kabi Traditional Custodian, Environment Advocate and Consultant Educator to the Noosa EEHub she has over 25 year experience in environmental education and land management. She is creator of the Bunya Dreaming Festival and brings a detailed understanding of our local ecosystems and their biodiversity.
Victor Steffensen is an Indigenous writer, filmmaker, musician and consultant applying traditional knowledge in a contemporary context. He is a descendant of the Tagalaka people of North Queensland. Much of Victor's work is based on the arts and reviving traditional knowledge, particularly within Aboriginal land and fire management. He is the co-founder of the Firesticks Alliance which involves communities across Australia and internationally. Victor holds a Doctor of Science with James Cook University. He is the author of “Fire Country” and the children’s book, “Looking After Country With Fire.
This will be a dynamic and interesting discussion, one not to be missed.
