The Noosa Environmental Education Hub has been exploring the Wonders of the Wallum with students from the region through all the projects we run. The Wallum Woodland is a very special ecosystem unique to our region. We are delighted to help grow the interest in the preservation and restoration of this incredible ecosystem along with our environmental friends and community members. Want to learn more about this incredible landscape or restore its biodiversity in your backyard. Visit on of our local native nurseries at Coolum Native Nursery or Noosa and District Landcare for all your Wallum plant needs or if you live in the Noosa Shire take advantage of NICA’s Urban Wildlife Garden project .

For thousands of years the beautiful ecosystems of the Noosa Biosphere have been looked after by the Kabi Kabi people. Since colonisation, the cohesion and health of this land has been under threat. Whilst over one third of the Noosa Shire is protected, some of our high-profile fauna, such as koalas, glossy cockatoos and the Allocasuarina Emuina (Mt Emu She-Oak), are extremely vulnerable and endangered. Our “cruisey” coastal lifestyles are also under threat due to extreme weather and Climate Change. As such, our community continues to fight to protect our biodiverse ecosystems against ongoing threats, and preserve the beautiful flora and fauna that we can observe in our surroundings.
In this area of the website we celebrate the Wonders of the Wallum in bloom.
