OUR PASSION

It’s up to all of us

The Noosa Environmental Education Hub teaches essential curriculum by engaging students in real life projects specific to their local area. We develop and deliver eco education activities that are relevant to the ecosystems that support existence on the Sunshine Coast. Our BioCultural programs stem from Intergenerational and Inter Cultural Learning in collaboration with local environmental groups and Aboriginal Educators. We were awarded the Noosa Biosphere Reserve Foundation Award for People & Economy in 2021 as a result of this work.

We offer a range of programs on land and in marine environments. Most of the programs have Citizen Science extensions which involve data capture in order to provide students with real and practical opportunities to effect change in their communities. This means students can observe the health of their adopted locations/species and track them over the years. We use the Noosa NatureMap platform to make these important observations.

Our programs are highly engaging and localised ensuring that students are meeting their curriculum requirements in a way that benefits their community and local environment. To find out more about our individual programs for 2023 please click on our Projects section.

NOOSA YOUTH ADVOCACY GROUP

The Noosa EEHub has created the Noosa Youth Advocacy Group. This fantastic group of young people now have a voice on the issues that mean most to them. The Group is made-up of student representatives from across Noosa to address issues of relevance to youth. We want to support the voices of our regions young people to help them shape the future they want to see for their community. The program also provides an exciting curriculum extension to Legal Studies.

With thanks…

We are indebted to local artist Suzanne Bloomfield for producing our logo. It embodies our mission to protect and restore the Noosa Biosphere’s ecosystems. It represents some of our regions threatened and iconic species such as the Glossy Black Cockatoo, Birdwing Butterfly and Eastern Sedge Frog in their natural Wallum habitats. We are so delighted and thankful to Suzanne who’s work is well known and can be found across the Noosa Shire, amongst many things she is also the illustrator of the Fussy Glossy’s children book available through NICA. A must read for all children in our region!
